Welcome to Beale AFB, MOOOO....

Well I made it here finally, it took 17 hours and several minutes but I made it. I am right now staying at the hotel on base and it isn't a bad room but not great either. I met my sponsor and she was super awesome and nice. She has been helpful getting me set up and helping my succeed so to me that is a plus. Right now I am in-processing the base (for you none military folks, it just means they are getting me set up here at the base.) and so far they are unsure where to put me. I will hopefully know where I will be working and hope that it isn't something to hard for me but what ever the challenge I will take it on full. So I want to give you all a picture of what it is like staying here at Beale AFB and what the base looks like.

It is no joke also, that is the lay out of the base. When I was told it was spread out, they were not joking. I mean it is much bigger them my last area but for reals it is the country but honestly I love it and can't stop smiling on how happy I am to be here. Because really I feel the lord has blessed me with being at this new area :).

This weekend was a lot of fun because I got to hang with my good old buddy Travis! We go went to eat at olive garden, then stay at Travis AFB and watch a hilarious movie called Cabin in the Woods. I laughed really hard at that movie, "I never do." Watch the movie and you will get what I am talking about. Then we got to hang out in good old San Fran and that was just a lot fun, especially cause I got to see my other friend Amelia.



Right now I am not working just yet because it means I am house hunting and car hunting as well. So far my success on that is 0 %. But hey I am going to stay strong, right now I have been looking in the Lincoln area and sadly only have one option there because of the income restrictions. Which means I am just a little over the income to be accepted there sooo that means looking at other areas. I don't like looking at the other places because it means either to far and slightly expensive or I choose the ones near me, and now I am far from the church I would like to attend to. So right now I am at a lost, and feel like I will have to make some sacrifices. Hopefully the lord will keep strong regardless of where I live.

I went on a nice drive today in the area and realize how neat it is living in the country though as well and makes me kinda like here but feel I need to for once live closer to the YSA community. I went yesterday for the first time to a YSA scripture night. We had a good chat and read in 4 Nephi 1 & Mormon 1. It 4 Nephi Chpt 1 it discuss of the time when Christ came to visit them all and help establish peace to the area. Then Years (200 years or so) later they began to dwindle in unbelief and begin to reject the gospel. It is sad to think that sometimes it is so easy for us to forget and also for us to continue to teach about Christ to our younger generation. Not only that but overall how we as humans so easily forget about the savior. I was glad to hear that lesson because it teaches me that through those busy moment in my life I need to not forget him and to remember he will always be there with us, as long as we allow him to be in our life.

Goodbye is really another way of saying "See you later!"

OK here I go with this. I had tried earlier in the year to create a blog for P90X and failed horribly. So I decided to transform it in to my personal journal entry and also got inspired by some of my friends blogs. Let me just tell you a little bit about myself. I am Andrew Cumbie 26 years old and right now living in Belgium but will soon be moving to California. I have been living here for the past 2 years and have had much joy being in this country and seeing this part of the world. Hopefully down the road I can post some pictures of places I went to and give some description of the areas I saw.

Today was my last Sunday at the Heerlen Military ward in the Netherlands. If you are thinking (is he in a mental ward for the military?) you would be very wrong. It is a church that I attend out here and it is the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. You may be thinking (isn't that the religion that has multiple wives?) sorry people but no it isn't Big Love. It is a church that believes in having Prophets on this earth today, that the gospel has been restored on this earth and that the Lord's church is here on the earth again. Now to the juicy stuff. As I have told you earlier I have spent two years living in this foreign land and getting some experience living overseas. I actually leave this coming Friday to my next destination in California. It is crazy to me that 2 years have passed by already and that I am already moving again. It saddens me to think I am leaving once again,  because I will miss the friends I have made here.  I guess it is something I have to get use to when living the military life. I have been in the military for now about 5.5 years and so far have enjoyed this career, so far..

I was asked in our Elder's Quorum to speak briefly with them and say a few words. All I could tell them are a few scriptures and the importance of serving our Lord in Heaven. I shared with them a scripture that was giving to me from a friend of mine in Ohio. It was Alma 26:27 "Now when our hearts were depressed, and we were about to turn back, behold, the lord comforted us, and said: Go amongst thy brethren, the Lamanites (Californians), and bear with patience thing afflictions, and I will give unto you success." You may have noticed I wrote in parentheses Californians because in someways the lord wants us to know that we may be sad to leave but we must be of good cheer because there is more work to come. I believe that work aka service will be at my next area and I hope to have as much success or more with the lord in this area, like I did in Heerlen.
